I also keep a shotgun by the bed... so I guess if I can explain the holes in the carpet to the wife... mutant mice maybe..??

Actually I have the worlds most wonderful alarm clock... It has not so much as ticked in 8 years...
People who have returned my alarm clock and Places from where my alarm clock returned...
The plumber from the S bend...
The neighbour from their pool... (tossed from a window)
The wife from her purse... (I really thought it would be lost forever in there...)
The airlines lost property (my wife thought to write my name and phone number on it before she took it out of her purse)
The Sister In Laws place... (I told my niece it was a toy and gave it to her... her mum gave it back)
The salvation army bin... (my name was on it so they couldnt sell it)
The creek.... some kid found it while catching yabbies... damn those permanent markers... my missus even gave him 5 bucks for finding it... sheesh... I wish shed give ME 5 bucks...
oh.... this was actually one I thought about before doing it.. A swap meet... I stowed it away and swapped it for a paper binder. My wife found it and swapped it back for a cheese cutter...
I finally compromised... I worked out that if you dont put a battery in the back, they dont tick... So i put some super glue over the contact. I let it dry then put the battery in... it hasnt ticked since... but my wife nags me every so often to fix it... and I dutifully promise and forget.... every so often she buys a new battery and puts it in there... but it dont tick...
I love my alarm clock now...
