Daylight Savings again

I've been in the papers and on radio again regarding the Daylight Savings issue. New Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh is a supporter of DLS, but she's against the split time zones. I'm still convinced that multiple time zones can work intra-state, but I'd be just as happy if the whole state adopted DLS en masse.

For those of you just visiting this blog because you're interested in the debate, can I draw your attention to these resources on the issue:
- My SEQ DLS petition (now closed)
- The older, state-wide e-petition
- An older essay I wrote, 'Saving more than just daylight'
- A series of resources I collated some time ago on the issue
- A flyer and an information sheet that Nick Lloyd developed this year (email DaylightSaveSEQ@Hotmail.com for further information)
- Allan Clarke's brochure on the DLS research set up by our former Premier Beattie.

A very big thanks also to the wonderful Charles Wooley for having me on his program on this issue again today. It's always fabulous to speak with you Charlie and so fantastic to have your support!

Let's bring Brisbane back into the light!

I was just thinking about this today - I'm up in Cairns at the moment, and the first thing I noticed when I got here was that it doesn't get dark until much later than Brisbane - it seems to get dark sometime after 6:30pm as it is - and its not summer yet.

So, I can see why people in places west of Brisbane (which is pretty much everyone) aren't enthusiastic about it - with DLS, it would be closer to 7:30pm/8:00pm. I'm not sure what the negatives of that are, apart from the bastardly heat.

For Brisbane, I'm a bit ambivalent about it. But, I guess as long as it results in more hot chicks in tank tops jogging along the coro drive bike/footpath in the afternoon, then I'm all for it.

LOL if it means I have to jog down Coro drive in a tank top in the afternoon to get your vote in support of DLS then I'm up for that! I can at least promise you I'll be hot temperature-wise if I fail utterly on the alternative definition!

You are so on!

Why not get a couple of good looking friends (female of course), and walk from the city to say auchenflower along the river bikepath every second day.

You can wear t-shirts advertising daylight savings and handing out cards to people with a url on them that they can go to for more info/another petition.

Not only do you get the message out to more people, you get to emphasize the practical benefits (the exercise, not the perving on hot women - though for most guys, that would be incentive enough) of it.

oh, and a big *rolls eyes* at your backhanded put-down of yourself not being hot. Damn women and your self-deprecation.
